Bordeaux – “Between Ocean and Vineyards”

Arrival at Bordeaux with your motorcoach at the end of the morning.

In the afternoon, Meeting with our guide and Guided visit of Bordeaux, city of art of the 18th century and listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, by coach and on foot.

You will discover the Grand Theatre, masterpiece of neo classic architecture built by Victor Louis, the Esplanade des Quinconces with the Monument des Girondins, the Place de la Bourse, imposing square previously dedicated to Louis XV with a “miroir d’eau” (reflecting pool), the Palais Rohan, former archbishop’s residence and now the Town Hall, the Saint Andre Cathedral with its separate bell tower, the Tour Pey-Berland, the Pont de Pierre… (3 hours maxi – no entry in the monuments).

Transfer at the end of the afternoon to your 3 stars hotel in the surroundings of Bordeaux.

Breakfast

In the morning, departure with your motorcoach to Saint Emilion to enjoy a commented Tour of the Vineyards of Saint Emilion by little train.

Then transfer to a Château GRAND CRU ST EMILION : welcome, guided visit of the cellars followed by a typical and convivial lunch in the “Vintagers Reception Room”  – Example of Menu : Plate of local Charcuteries / Duck Parmentier / Cake with fruit of the season / Tasting of the 3 wines of the property & coffee

In the afternoon, Meeting with our local guide and Guided visit by foot of Saint-Emilion’s unique underground monuments. The tour covers several centuries of history and legend from the time of the monk Emilion to the carving out of the amazing monolithic church. You will be able to see paintings in the Chapelle de la Trinité and learn the secrets of the catacombs. 

Some free time at leisure to discover the town’s superb medieval streets, buildings and monuments well preserved.

Return to BORDEAUX at the end of the afternoon.

Breakfast and departure with our guide and your motorcoach to the Bay of Arcachon.

Climbing up the Dune of Pyla, the highest sand dune in Europe where you will appreciate the wonderful view on the Ocean, the Landes Forest and the Bay. Then guided visit of Arcachon by coach, the town of the four Seasons with the Winter Town and its beautiful old villas.

Lunch not included

In the afternoon, commented boat tour of 1h45 in order to discover the Bay of Arcachon with the “Cabanes Tchanquées” and the Birds Island. Stop of 1 hour in a village of the Cap Ferret Peninsula for an oyster tasting with a glass of white wine.

Return to your hotel at the end of afternoon.

Optional : Fishing in the Bay of Arcachon in the morning to share a moment of relaxation and conviviality and explore the most fish-rich areas of the basin. The equipment (canes and bait) ar included in the price. Excursion subject to favourable weather conditions.

Breakfast and departure with our guide and your motorchoach for the famous “Route des Châteaux” in the Medoc Region.

Stop in a château Cru Bourgeois Haut Médoc for a guided visit of the cellars
followed by a tasting of 2 wines.

In the afternoon, continuation of the “Route des Châteaux” with : Châteaux Palmer, Margaux, Beychevelle, Pichon Longueville, Mouton Rothschild… Visit of the FORT MEDOC built by Vauban and facing the Citadelle de Blaye.

Then, Stop at a Château Cru Classé Margaux : Welcome , visit of the cellars and tasting of 2 wines.

Return to your hotel at the end of the afternoon.

Optional : Arrival at a Château, Cru Bourgeois Haut Médoc : this authentic family property offers the possibility of becoming a Master Bottler. Guided by the owners, you will discover all the secrets of the wine and will put your own botteld wine : filling it up, putting the cork, stamping it, labeling it… At the end, the participants are offered a name specific diploma as well as the bottle.

Breakfast and departure with our guide and your motorchoach to the SAUTERNES Region, south of the department.

Guided visit of the Château de CAZENEUVE, royal castle where lived King Henri IV and Queen Margot.

In the afternoon, stop in a Chateau for a visit of the cellars with a wine tasting.

Guided Visit of the medieval city, ST MACAIRE, which embodies History with a capital H! As you wander around this medieval town, you will discover the remains of a Gallo-Roman cloister, a priory, ramparts and sites dating from the Middle Ages, such as the Place du Mercadiou. A real trip back in time!
